KLEINPLASIE
Lewensruimte attended the International day of celebration for Families on 15 May 2010. The Family Expo was held at Kleinplasie, Worcester and attended by people from the Breederiver District. These global events serve to remind us of the fundamental and central role the family plays in society.

DEAFBLIND VISIT TO S.O.S. CHILDRENS
VILLAGE, VILLIERSDORP
On Saturday 8 May 2010, our Deafblind residents together with those of the National Institute for the Blind (NIB) were treated to an outing by Worcester’s Lions Club. Each Deafblind person was escorted by an attendant who helped him/her and also acted as interpreter.

VISIT TO GERMANY
Our Head visited Deaf communities and instances in Germany during April 2010. The purpose was to go and see how Lewensruimte compares to similar instances in Germany. Visits were made to Klinik Erlange, Regens Wagner Foundation and Herbert Feuchte Stiftungsverbund.

- The Annual General Meeting of our Community Project was held on 21 August 2009. Our guest speaker was ms Mercia Prins from the Department of Social Development.
- We are now registered at the Department of Health as a Mental Health organisation.
- A Parent and Family Day was held on Wednesday 23 September 2009. It is always important to have the parents and family here and to provide them with information.
- One of our residents, Heslyn Petersen, walked away with the prize for Miss Personality during our Miss Boland Deaf competition hed at Mountain Mill Mall on the 5th of September!
