SENSITIZATION

When you’ve checked under your bed and realize there is no monster under the bed, you’ll sleep soundly. When you understand hearing loss, you will not fear to communicate with hearing loss, but will understand their needs. Then perhaps when you yourself experience hearing loss, you will enjoy positive attitudes toward you despite the communication challenge it brings.

The aim of sensitization sessions is exactly that: to empower people in communities across the country with information about hearing loss – whether it be pre or post lingual or hearing impairment (being mild, moderate or severe). This will ultimately lead to a better understanding of our fellow man, thus more job opportunities and more equal access to information in general.

Sensitizations sessions are presented by people with hearing loss themselves and can be arranged by phoning the NID: Centre of Knowledge.
