ANTHONY LANGWENYA

Date of Birth:
21 August 1974

Country:
Swaziland

Marriage status:
Married (his wife is Deaf)

Kids:
Two (The first born is a girl: Deaf, the second is a boy: hearing)

History:
I was born hearing. When I was 7 years old, I became sick and then Deaf. I was born at the Mbabane Government Hospital.

My whole family is hearing. I have three sisters and three brothers. None of them know sign language. My father is a reverent.

I joined the School for the Deaf in Siteki, Swaziland. At School all the deaf children went to worship at the Roman Catholic Church on Sundays. I still was not saved. When I finished school, I was trained as a carpenter in Mbabane, Swaziland. I worked for a Chemical company and there I heard the Good News from someone from Kenya.

I took a course in Nairobi, Kenya with the Deaf Opportunity Outreach “DOOR”. There I finally received Salvation and became a Christian. I went back to Mbabane to preach the Gospel for the Deaf people living in Mbabane, Swaziland. I grew from weak to strong.

I got married to a Deaf lady and continued working with the adult Deaf people in Mbabane, Swaziland.

God called me to study again in Worcester, South Africa. It was not easy to leave because I did not have enough sponsors. I want to develop my character and learn more to grow spiritually. I am thankful to God for sending a sponsor from Austria. I will continue to trust him

Vision:
Always to pray for Deaf people in Swaziland who do not know about Salvation. When I finish DCMA after four years of study, I will go back to encourage the Deaf in Swaziland. This will include the children at Siteki Primary School, Mpaka High School and the Deaf adults in Mbabane. I must always pray and ask God to help me reach my goal.
