ABOUT US

Worcester De a Bat Congregation is a congregation for the Deaf and their families. Our services are aimed at Deaf, but accessible also by hearing persons.

We minister to:

  • the children of the two Schools for the Deaf in Worcester
  • Lewensruimte (Adult Multi- Disabled Deaf)\
  • the Students of DCSA
  • the Aged of Shalom Old Age home
  • Adult Deaf congregants and their families living in and around Worcester.

The Congregation is affilliated to the Dutch Reformed Church. Amongst the Deaf Community “Denominations” is not very important, though, and we strive to be the spiritual home for all the Deaf Christians in Worcester, no matter their denominational background.

We also serve as training ground for the Ministry Students of DCMA. They do their practical work in our congregation, and the three lecturers of DCMA are ordained pastors in our congregation.

Our Language of communication is threefold: We use Afrikaans Sign Language, SASL (English), and Spoken Afrikaans.
