NID-College Award Ceremony 2010
NID Board of Directors Chairperson: Rev Rossouw
Speech
Chanselor Kleinschmidt, NID Board of Directors, Head of NID-College Mr Louis Kotze and NID partners:
It is indeed an honour for me, for all of us, to be part of such an historic and life changing day here at NID-College. Today we witnessed the beginning of a journey of independence, hope and empowerment for the young Deaf persons who graduated.
We would like to thank all who played a vital part of the initiation of this journey:
- The staff at NID-College, whom unselfishly devote their time, knowledge and expertise towards the Occupational training of Deaf persons in South Africa. You have done and continue to do an excellent job. We are proud of you and thank you for your commitment and superb service.
- The funding partners of NID-College. You are the “energy source” of NID-College. Without you there would be no “power” left to continue, which would leave thousands of young Deaf persons with no accessible Occupational Skills Training in Africa. You have truly accompanied us throughout this journey and we look forward to a journey continued.
- Last, but not least we would like to congratulate and thank the students at NID-College. Your commitment, drive and enthusiasm have not only brought about self-empowerment, but you have assisted to create a new generation of Deaf persons in South Africa, that is one of economic independence. We wish those whom will be leaving today and entering the labour market all the best with your new career. We assure you of our continued support and assistance.
A word of thanks to all who devoted some time in their busy schedules to be part of this important day. We strongly believe that, like Hellen Keller said, it is in working together that the true success and empowerment of Deaf persons lie.
I thank you.
