NID COLLEGE STUDENTS VISIT RADISSON HOTEL’S WELLNESS SPA

NID College students were invited to visit the One Wellness Spa of the Radisson Hotel near the Waterfront in Cape Town 17th November 2010, where Mr. Izak de Bruyn (Spa Manager) and Aimee Kimmel (Assistant Manager) gave us a hearty welcome.

Our students were taken on a tour through the spa, and shown all the various wonderful treatments and rooms that make this Spa so special. The journey started with the students changing into their swimming costumes, and receiving a robe to wrap up, very cozy and comfortable. They were taken on the following spa ritual journey that gave them their very first introduction to a real spa experience. Firstly they enjoyed body scrubs, followed by misty rain showers and body mud applications to wonderful sauna and steam experiences. This was followed by a treatment of their choice, and students enjoyed facials, pedicures and full body massages. After this blissful, relaxing treatment experience, they had the choice of using either the relaxation room where tea was served, or the Vitality pool, where they relaxed and enjoyed fresh exotic fruits and juices. When I met up with my students I found them all relaxed and happy next to the Vitality pool, all still cozily wrapped up in their gowns and towels.

To top it all off, the Spa manager was so generous that he gave each student a gift, and he also made sure that we had an enjoyable light lunch on the outside area of the Radisson Hotel Restaurant. The restaurant is situated right on the breakwater, and the views of Blouberg and Robben Island in the distance were phenomenal. What a memorable day!

Our students were invited to ask questions and to express their experiences, and Mr. Izak de Bruyn (Manager of One Wellness Spa) gave some inspiring words for the students to take home with them. He was very impressed with our students and will welcome future relationships with our College with regard to experiential training of our students. What a wonderful concept they shared with us as a group and also to each student individually. This experience has changed our students’ lives, and inspired them to dream big, and as Mr. Izak de Bruyn said: – “no dream is too big – if you really want it, you can have it – it is just up to you to go get it”. A big thank you for your kindness and the opportunity you created to teach these students about your lovely spa, and to the staff that portray the image of such a prestige spa so elegantly.
