Annual NID College Awards Ceremony

The College will be having it's Awards Ceremony on the 25th of November. We are very honoured and excited to have (Hon. Prof) Ms Hlengiwe Buhle Mkize (South African Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training) as our guest speaker.

It is also such a special day on which we unveil our new NSF sponsored classrooms as well as our MQA sponsored classroom.

We also celebrate the success of our students!

Very successful day. We did training with Aim Academy in Durbanville.

What an experience. Thank you to Jacoline Wentzel that orgainsed this training with Melinda, and our Host, Irmelind van Zyl from Aim Academy, that included us in this training session. It is surely an experience that my students will never forget.

AIM ACADEMY FUNDRAISER:
For The National Institute for the Deaf

Aim Academy hosted a Massageathon on the 13th of August 2011, to raise funds for the Beauty Division at the NID College of the National Institute for the Deaf. This will also create awareness of the NID on various levels.

The day was very successful. Some of our Beauty students also visited the Academy and got given the opportunity to observe in the classrooms while the Massages was being performed. The students had a tour of the Academy and Student Salon, and were invited to visit the Student salon to work, assist or observe in the future – to build their practical hours. This was wonderful exposure for the NID and it’s students, and they were so inspired by the students of Aim Academy.

A warm Thank You to Irmalind Van Zyl, all staff and students of Aim Academy, for making us feel so welcome and for helping us raise funds for our Beauty Division at The National Institute for the Deaf.

Aim Academy visited the National Institute for the Deaf on the 24th of August and received a check of R18450. Thank you to Aim Academy for raising & providing funding, that it could be used in our Beauty Department at the NID College, in the various areas of need.

Princess Project Paarl: 23.08.2011

Very successful day. It is a project that was created to help and support the underprivileged girls in Matric in Northern Paarl High School, to make them Beautiful for their Matric dance. Dresses, shoes, jewelry were given on loan from the Church and friends provided services.

We were very happy to be part of this day that was arranged by Jacoline Wentzel from The Spa Warehouse. Together with other beauty students from Isa Carstens, NID Beauty students helped to do the nails. There was also Make-up Professionals from Elizabeth Aarden, and People from the Church and local therapists that helped.

It was a fantastic experience for the NID Students to be part of such a project. They had the opportunity to work with other professionals in the Beauty industry and also other beauty students of the trade, it also give them a chance to be part of a project to give and make a difference.

Thank you that we could help makes a difference in other girl’s lives.
