ABSA CAPE EPIC 2010

On 24 March 2010 NID-College was privileged to be part of the 2010 Absa Cape Epic in a very special way. Sherildene Liebenberg, 2nd Princess in our Mr and Miss NID-College 2009 beauty pageant, was one of the chosen candidates who represented the Absa Cape Epic in the finish line podium presentations held in Worcester on this day. According to Simone Ameels of the Absa Cape Epic Event Services, the responsibilities of the podium girls included:

• Working closely with the Winners Lounge Manager to create a perfect podium presentation and be an integral part of the race.
• Creating a professional atmosphere in the Absa Cape Epic Winners Lounge.
• Escorting the top 3 teams of the day onto the stage.
• Handing over flowers to the town dignitary / major / sponsor VIP at the correct time to hand over to the podium winners for the first awards ceremony.
• Handing the leader jersey to the head of Adidas at the correct time for the leader jersey presentation.
• Remain on stage with the overall leaders (1 girl on each side of the winning podium) for photo opportunities.
• Being the face of Absa Cape Epic in all footage/media taken .

These podium girls already appeared and will continue to appear in the majority of the big news papers, SABC, ETV, and dozens of international TV stations for years to come. It was therefore important that the process had to be understood and practised until perfection.

Sherildene managed to perform her duties beautifully and was afterwards complimented on doing a great job. This was a great opportunity for which we sincerely wish to thank Ansel Müller of Worcester Tourism Accosiation, Karen Clements, Simone Ameels and Mikayla Webb as well as the Grandstandmanagement team of the 2010 Absa Cape Epic.
