NID COLLEGE STUDENT OF THE YEAR

The NID College / Hands On Foundation “Award of Excellence”, awarded to the Most Outstanding Student of the Year, serves to remind students that passion, hard work and dedication in life are rewarded. The Student of the Year is a balanced individual and a true ambassador for NID College not only in the classroom but also in the workplace and the community. The winner is chosen by College personnel and the characteristics taken into consideration include academic excellence, performance in sport and extra-mural activities, leadership skills, friendliness, respect and a positive attitude. The winner and recipient of a R5000 Hands On Foundation “Achiever Bursary”, is Naledi Ditlhobolo, shown here with Mr Lucas Magongwa of the Hands On Foundation.

Naledi comes from Potchefstroom, is a 2nd year student and is following the City & Guilds International Beauty Therapy Diploma course. According to her facilitator, Naledi excelled especially in her handling of clients in the College’s beauty salon, Symphony of Senses, and was in all aspects, a worthy candidate for Student of the Year. She is a positive role model for other students and actively participated in various College activities. Naledi was also involved in, among others, the activities of the DR Church De la Bat on the campus of the NID. She also won the title of 1st Princess in the annual Mr and Miss NID College Beauty Pageant in 2009. She will complete her course in April 2011 after which, as a qualified Deaf Beauty Therapist, she hopes to work in her home town.
